Under indirect supervision, provides patient services using imaging modalities. Performs radiographic procedures. Assumes responsibility for patient care and related duties.
Essential Functions:
Performs radiologic examinations according to departmental protocol w/in Diagnostic Imaging Department as well as Operating Room, Emergency Room (Trauma Unit), Urologic Suite & hospital patient rooms; positions patients, provides immobilization devices as required & selects technical factor that will result in optimum imaging for each individual patient; processes exposed radiographs by use of automatic processor
• Correlates patient's clinical history w/ exam being performed; reviews previous studies when follow up & progressive studies are requested
• Satisfies departmental requirements for quality control measures; ensures patient & technologist identification means on completed image are accurate, film size & cassette placement are correct, & standard positions for each anatomic part requested are exposed; evaluates processed radiographs for technical quality & assumes responsibility for same; recognizes department report rate & functions below this standard
• Maintains good working & technical knowledge of all departmental equipment including mobile radiographic equipment, VCRs, injectors & processors
• Receives patients & establishes patient's identity according to requisition; provides instructions regarding preparations (undressing & gowning) for exams; assists co-workers as time & duties permit
• provides for proper patient care during procedure; establishes & maintains good communications w/ patient; explains procedure; answers questions
• provides necessary safety measures w/ particular attention to radiation protection; practices aseptic technique as necessary; practices isolation techniques as necessary (e.g., proper masking & gowning along w/ proper care of imaging equipment); assists physicians w/ imaging procedures & opaque & drug administration
• Maintains patient records; accounts for films exposed for each exam completed by adding this information to radiographic requisition; completes & attaches exam history form to requisitions when examination has been aborted, routine exam protocol altered, or when other extenuating circumstances occur
• Ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays & disposables to be used in assigned area
• Prepares in advance of exams by providing cassettes, supplies, opaques & related articles necessary for successful completion of procedure

Basic Qualifications:
One year (2,080 hours) of general radiology experience as a registered technologist
• Associate's degree in radiologic technology from accredited school
• Valid Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
• Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) w/ the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of & skill in adaptability, change management, conflict resolution, decision making, customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, systems thinking, teamwork, & written communication
• Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, & on the telephone
• Reading, writing, speaking, & understanding English
• Training/giving & receiving instructions
• Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, & alertness
Preferred Qualifications:
Trauma experience
• CT and/or special procedures experience
