This is an off campus work study position located throughout the Albuquerque Area. A work study award is required for this position. New Mexico Community FaithLinks (CFL) provides academic-based after school and summer programs in four Albuquerque school communities. Reading and Math Tutors are needed to assist in the development and implementation of literacy, academic and enrichment hands on activities for elementary school students. Dates for fall program would be from August 2012 to May 2013. These hands on activities promote positive youth development, leadership and love of learning. Staff members act as mentors and model leadership behaviors for participating students as one method of promoting a safe, consistent, nurturing and positive program. They also encourage parent and community involvement. Orientation, coaching and on-going professional development are offered. Applicants must be hardworking, caring, responsible, and eager to work with children and their families. Experience working with children and community is helpful. Fluent Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. Reading and Math Tutors must be willing to act as an effective member of a team. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills, flexibility and an ability to conduct professional and considerate interactions are a must. This program requires a work schedule of 15-20 hours per week, and availability between 2-5:30 pm.
