Coding Specialist

Swedish/Edmonds has an opportunity available for an experienced Coding Specialist. The Coding Specialist in the Health Information Management department is responsible for assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedure codes for all service types in accordance with hospital approved and third party official coding guidelines.

In this position you will:
Abstract data and codes into the clinical database system

Communicate with physicians, nursing, patient accounting and ancillary departments regarding documentation requirements

Actively participate to ensure compliance with coding and reporting requirements and receipt of entitled reimbursement

Participate in meetings related to maintaining appropriate coding, documentation and billing standards

Maintain knowledge of current regulations with regard to coding practices


qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent


qualifications for this position include:
Experience with inpatient coding ICD-9-CM and CPT in an acute care setting


Completion of an accredited health information management technician or administrator degree program or coding certification program
