•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with advanced vocational/technical training preferred plus three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and clearly to other employees of organization.
•The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders to retrieve part samples. Must be able to stand, bend, lift for long periods of time. This position can be both mentally and physically demanding. Extensive use of hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, twist, turn and bend.
Test and quantifies melt bath. Makes adjustments as required for zinc and phosphorous copper as required. Operates and maintains Hartley.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Acquire metal samples from melt deck operation: Properly prepare samples to specification.
•Determine the appropriate quantity of materials – zinc to be added to the furnace or phos-copper to be added to the ladles to meet the specification as outlined on the “component judgment standard document.”
•Operate the Mass Spectrometer – (burning samples on the mass spectrometer, and observing the resultant data)
•Preparation of samples utilizing – sanders, lathes and other equipment to acquire a smooth surface.
•Daily sand testing and adjusting sand as needed.
•Report shortcomings of sand system to maintenance or supervision
•Follow written work instructions and job standards
•Complete data records and reports.
•Perform other duties as needed or requested
