Define, select and deploy effective computer hardware that addresses the automated system needs of the County Clerk’s Office user community.
  • Maintain computer hardware and the underlying operating systems necessary for effective use of County resources.
  • Work closely with the County IT department to implement upgrades and new applications with a minimal interruption of the user community.
  • Work closely with the County IT department in maintaining effective network, security and data integrity.
  • Administer network, security, workstation and server components within the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Provide user support for the various computer applications used in the day-to-day functions of the County Clerk’s Office.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the County Clerk’s Office Active Directory Infrastructure.
  • Enforces the security policy and procedures published by Information Technology Security and the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Exercises knowledge of Exchange 2003 e-mail support to include internet e-mail routing, Outlook Web Access, content and SPAM filtering, Blackberry wireless technology.
  • Coordinates with Tarrant County Information Technology on monitoring multiple antivirus product consoles’ daily to ensure that any virus activity is noted and investigated in a timely manner.
  • Manages equipment installation, troubleshooting, hardware testing, ongoing maintenance of production environments, and continuous monitoring in accordance with established Information Technology policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with uptime and performance standards.
  • Seamlessly deploys the latest business productivity applications and critical patches to all enterprise machines from computers to laptops using SMS 2003.
  • Measures capacity and performance trends to determine long-term needs. Continuously Identifies areas of improvement in the computer and client arena and implements improvements when approved.
  • Provides training and/or advice to other technical staff and County Clerk’s Office management concerning technical topics or system definitions as appropriate.
  • Works under general direction from senior management to establish and recommend policies on overall system maintenance, stressing increased performance, value, and service.
  • Supports all aspects of computers within the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Provides hardware specifications and cost of tech refresh for budgetary purposes.
  • Performs first-level telephone support and on-site problem determination and resolution for support staff and troubleshooting of mission critical systems for everyday County Clerk’s Office operations
  • Operates web services on internal and external web portal systems.
  • Provides application implementation and support for Internet Security and Application Computer (ISA) for the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology for the upgrade or installation and implementation of new computer software as required.
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the County Clerk’s Information Technology Department as assigned or required.


  • Minimum Requirements:

    TO APPLY must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher education + Three (3) full-time years of previous experience in information technology. Including experience or training in systems analysis and design and computer programming in one or more computer languages currently in use or planned for installation at Tarrant County.

    must have an Associate’s degree + Five (5) full-time years of previous experience in information technology. Including experience or training in systems analysis and design and computer programming in one or more computer languages currently in use or planned for installation at Tarrant County.

    must have a High School diploma or GED + Five (5) full-time years of previous experience in information technology. Including experience or training in systems analysis and design and computer programming in one or more computer languages currently in use or planned for installation at Tarrant County.

    Working knowledge of general business principles and procedures particularly in accounting and auditing.

    Detailed knowledge of County Clerk functions preferred.

    Knowledge of systems analysis techniques, application design methods, database design, application languages and project management techniques.

    If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

    Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, and bend.
