Seeking Director of Local Content The Monitor -

The Monitor -- a 40,000 daily, 50,000 Sunday serving the Rio Grand Valley of Texas -- is seeking a sharp, well organized, experienced editor with a strong track record of directing reporters and sub-editors in the gathering of local news to be our new director of local content. This is one of two key news department manager positions that report directly to the editor. You'll be overseeing the Metro and Features desks with the help of two deputy metro editors and a features editor. The person we are seeking should have at least five years of reporting experience plus three years of professional newsroom management experience and must have an understanding of all of the print and digital platforms we are using to deliver information to readers. You should be an excellent planner, an outstanding word editor and have a strong ability to mentor talented young reporters in ways that will help them further develop their news coverage, enterprise and investigative reporting skills across all of our information delivery platforms.
