Position Summary:, Inc. (CI) is looking for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to handle all facets of production server and application maintenance at our corporate headquarters (HQ) in Mountain View, California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, maintenance and operational trouble-shooting of Linux servers and their corresponding applications. The focus will be to support our production environment.

Position Responsibilities:
Use your expert knowledge of Linux to build solid, secure and scalable solutions for Coupons Inc. services.

Provide guidance and training related to technology and proactively identify opportunities for technologies to be upgraded, improved or adopted within Coupons Inc.

Provides effective and constructive mentoring to junior staff.

Participate in the rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team providing third-tier support.

Support Coupons, Inc.'s internal application groups by identifying and presenting their system-impacting requirements to the rest of the Sys Admin team.

Leads projects or subprojects including developing project plans, assigning tasks, executing within scope and facilitating team process.

Assists with forecasting, upgrades, expansions, and configuration enhancements in the production environments.

Documents standards and operating procedures and acts as a technical liaison to the Technology staff and systems users.

Works closely with the Management team to ensure SLA's and all other team objectives are consistently achieved.

Monitors systems, responds to alerts and proactively respond via the help desk system to incidents and requests to ensure SLA compliance (where applicable).

Responsible for assisting in the maintenance, expansion and optimization of Coupons Inc global infrastructure.

Tests and assists in the deployment of proprietary applications, systems and security patching and upgrades.

Partners with appropriate teams to conduct and oversee root cause analysis on mission critical or Service Level failures.

Respond to emergencies 24/7 when scheduled to work on-call shift.

Create reference diagrams for integrated systems used to support the continual evolution of the service offerings.

Ensure continued smooth operation of the global system infrastructure.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
Experience in a 24/7/365 multi-tiered production environment.

Must be able to participate in the team On-call rotation.

Extensive and thorough understanding of Linux (kernel, system libraries, system daemons, distribution software packaging, compiling and porting add-on packages, etc.), across multiple distributions (RedHat, Debian, etc.).

Outstanding scripting skills in Bash and one or more of: Perl, Python, Ruby, Powershell.

Experience implementing and maintaining system configuration management tools (Puppet, Cfengine, Chef, Bcfg2).

Thorough understanding of Linux IP networking concepts.

Experience with system (Xymon, Cacti) and log (Splunk, syslog-ng) monitoring/analysis tools.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively with people of varying technical abilities.

Ability to work with highly confidential materials.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a combination of education and work experience equivalent.

Minimum of 6 years administering Linux server systems.
