The Louisiana Bucket Brigade works in communities situated near oil refineries and chemical plants, empowering residents to scientifically monitor their own air quality and work for pollution reductions, community health, and environmental justice. This is accomplished by gathering air pollution data through the use of sampling devices such as the EPA approved "bucket," conducting health studies and publishing information on the effects of chemicals on health, community organizing, and strategic use of the media publicity to hold polluters accountable and push for change.
We are currently hiring Full and part time Community Organizers to join our spring and summer campaign staff!

Candidates should have strong verbal communication skills, be positive and energetic, and a passion for environmentalism and public health issues. Candidates will need to be open to people of other beliefs, different value systems and education levels, and be confident in talking with people. Our Community Organizers will be responsible for running key aspects of the campaign focusing on canvassing to increase public awareness, recruit volunteers, as well as grassroots fund-raising.

This summer, work on important issues, build your resume and earn money while you’re at it. Earn $300-$500 per week. Benefits are available for our Full Time Organizers. Experience in volunteer recruitment, grassroots fund raising, public education, field work, or voter persuasion highly preferred. Experience in grassroots activism is great, but by no means required.
