This position is a pay-per-treatment position supporting multiple hospitals in the North Dallas area. This is an autonomous position where the nurse in this role will work independently and be comfortable on their own.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The individual in this role provides dialysis patient care for acute patients at local area hospitals. The Acute Care RN executes and monitors the treatments; follow up care, and proper documentation for dialysis care. This individual provides safe, effective, and compassionate care that is consistent with the State, Federal and Company guidelines and Company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide acute patient care activities in accordance with the Hospital and Company’s policies and procedures.
Follow protocols and quality initiatives to improve clinical and patient outcomes of the in-patient dialysis patient.
Demonstrate RV Difference and Culture and ensure customer, patient and staff satisfaction.
Attend to and execute all aspects of care to the admitted dialysis patient to include, but not limited to:
Documentation of patients initial assessment, physician orders and changes to treatment prescription, kinetic evaluation, medication and lab review, in accordance with the guidelines of the ESRD Network, State and Federal regulatory agencies.
Evaluate patient’s data and formulate an individualized plan of care that includes both short and long term goals. Report progress and problems to the patient and multi disciplinary care team.
Monitor plan of care and make changes as necessary independently or in coordination with the multi disciplinary team.
Demonstrate competency with regards to state and federal regulatory compliance.
Work with Biomedical Department to ensure proper testing and function of all equipment.
Follow Client and Company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.
Assist with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.Perform all duties in a professional and courteous manner.
Enforce and adhere to all HIPPA compliance policies.
Complete review of all lab reports communicating changes to appropriate discipline; use protocols to make appropriate medication changes.
Demonstrate appropriate emergency response following established protocols and complete all documentation in accordance with Hospital policy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have current and valid State professional nursing licensure.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred, Associates Degree in Nursing required.
Must have 1 to 2 years prior nursing experience, preferably focused in ICU/MedSurg or dialysis.
Must be ablet to think critically and independently.
Certification in specialty encouraged.
Must have demonstrated record of and commitment to safety; and dedication to excellence.
Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients and physicians.
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts (dialysis equipment and machinery). The employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50pounds (lifting patients, etc.). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color differentiation, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk and talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. He/she is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
