This position functions as a recognized resource and requires advanced knowledge in several areas of law. Specifically, the position is responsible for ensuring the department's compliance with and attendant implementation of practices and policies concerning the American's With Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504/Title II ADA compliance, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as well as the Administrative Procedures Act (APA). Further, the position's responsibilities include departmental compliance with the Michigan Court Rules and the Mental Health Code requirements concerning requests for mental health patient records. Additional responsibilities include the provision of litigation support to the Department as well as to assistant attorneys general who represent the department, the performance of legal research and analysis, assistance with departmental response to subpoenas, coordination of personal service contracts for legal services, oversight of the department's administrative rule promulgation responsibilities, as well as assistance with the provision of bankruptcy support and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by the position's supervisors.

Required Education and Experience:
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.
