The Development Officer will be responsible for fundraising and implementing a stewardship and cultivation program to develop and maintain relationships and leverage philanthropic support with the Senior Development Director, East. The incumbent will inspire current donors to stay involved and attract new donors to Enterprise Community Partners and will be responsible for prospect management, the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, coordination of cultivation events, visits and tours, preparing staff materials for donor meetings and executing donor follow-up. The position will be located in New Orleans, LA or Columbia, MD and will have East Region geographic responsibilities.
Implement a resource development plan in collaboration with applicable Enterprise staff to provide operating and program support and identify funding priorities.
Cultivate and manage relationships with local and regional donors, primarily corporations and foundations, establish donor relationships and arrange for and participate in cultivation calls with Program staff.
Develop new grant proposal opportunities through prospect research using published and on-line sources.
Manage the development and writing of reports.
Conduct donor relations activities including making preparing special mailings, gift acknowledgements and arranging tours.
Assist in planning special events and meetings.
Coordinate volunteers and donated materials for programs.
Develop related marketing materials in collaboration with the Communications Department.
Manage appeals and direct mail in coordination with the Resource Development Group (RDG), providing recommended frequency and donor outreach strategies for appeals, writing solicitation, acknowledgement, pledge reminder letters and coordinating collection of pledges.
Prepare updates, and meeting materials in support of stewardship and cultivation of individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
Participate in National Resource Development Group and East Region Fundraising team meetings.
Ensure that donor information in Raisers’ Edge is complete and accurate and assists with generating reports and reconciling gift records.
Work with data management staff to ensure accuracy of mailing lists.
Bachelor’s degree and at least three years progressive fundraising or business development experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to details.
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage concurrent processes and projects independently.
Goal-oriented and able to commit to expanding fundraising budgets, demonstrated success in generating philanthropic support.
Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, MS PowerPoint and Raiser’s Edge software.
Savvy relationship-building skills.
Superior verbal, organizational, interpersonal and writing skills.
In-depth and advanced knowledge of modern fundraising techniques.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%, mostly within the Eastern US states.
