Position Summary:
The Slide/Block Laboratory Aide position provides support to client services, Pathology Assistants, and the pathologist staff. The Slide/Block Lab Aide is responsible for following all standards, policies, and procedures of Miraca Life Sciences.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Assures that all safety, quality control measures, and policies and procedures are followed.
2. Files blocks and slides in numerical order.
3. Adheres to attendance and punctuality standards.
4. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
5. Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects as required.
6. Accepts other duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
a. Ability to multi-task.
b. Ability to file items in numerical order.
c. Ability to send out specimens to various reference testing laboratories.
d. Ability to work with client services to resolve patient and client issues.
e. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
f. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, general working knowledge of Internet for business use, and skilled in operating office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
g. Ability to work in a fast-past, high-volume, deadline driven environment.
h. Drive for Results (Service, Quality, and Continuous Improvement) – Ensure procedures and processes are in place that lead to delivery of quality results and continually reassess their effectiveness to achieve continuous improvement.
i. Communication – Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization in order to achieve the desired results. Ability to read/write English effectively.
j. Teamwork – Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team.
k. Customer Service Focus – Demonstrate a focus on listening to and understanding client/customer needs and then delighting the client/customer by exceeding service and quality expectations.
2. Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience
a. High School diploma or equivalent.
b. One to three years experience in the medical field preferred.
3. Physical Demands
a. Will work at a computer some of the time as well as need to keep inventory and ordering records requiring the use of copiers, fax machines, and PDF scanners.
b. Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.
c. Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
d. Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
e. Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
f. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
g. May have exposure to high noise levels in the data center, fumes and bio-hazardous material in the lab environment.

All laboratory employees will be flexible with their hours and when problems occur, may be required to work overtime.
