(Job Opening 369328) - Research Associate Professor - conceptualizes, designs, implements and directs research projects for the decidual innate immunity in the pathogenesis of adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as spontaneous abortion and preeclampsia; develops an in vitro and in vivo model for the investigation of interactions among first trimester trophoblast, decidual cells and immune cells and their molecular mechanisms within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; establishes research priorities; develops research program that complements the current research focuses within maternal fetal medicine; plans, designs, and conducts complex experiments; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; analyzes data and experimental results to determine whether the results are complete or whether additional experiments are necessary; outlines and writes research papers, abstracts, grant applications and annual reports for funded projects prepares manuscripts and abstracts; presents data at national and international meetings; develops, writes and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator to extramural funding agencies to obtain significant salary and research support from outside funding agencies; establishes research collaborations with other laboratories in the department as well as with those in other institutions in the USA and abroad; oversees research staff; collaborates with other laboratory members on research projects carried out in the laboratory by research fellows and students.

Education and Experience

Doctoral degree required; extensive experience in a biological/health science research capacity required; demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher as evident by publication record, citation of research by others, presentations to scientific organizations or contributions to the research field required; knowledge of molecular and cellular biology techniques, tissue cultures, animal models of disease and bioinformatics required; familiarity with computer database management preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check.
