The Villages Daily Sun, America's fastest growing daily newspaper, is expanding its staff and seeking a features reporter with a proven passion for community journalism. |
Successful candidates should be comfortable handling a variety of assignments ranging from food, arts, theater, health, travel and gardening as well as general human interest features. The newspaper is part of a media group that also operates a cable TV station and a radio station - platforms to which our reporters regularly contribute.
The Daily Sun believes in the future of print and is defying national trends of declining circulation numbers and downsizing staff. We cater to a senior population, but also cover the story of explosive growth in several surrounding counties. We're a 90-mile drive to the beach, the theme parks and the historic neighborhoods of Gainesville and St. Augustine. We offer competitive pay, excellent benefits and access to a highly regarded school system in one of the state's most idyllic settings.
Applicants should have a college degree, strong reporting/writing abilities and an experimental mindset. Florida residents familiar with the area are a plus.
The deadline to apply is Friday, April 5.
Apply by sending your resume, references and four to six writing clips that clearly illustrate your writing abilities to the attention of Matthew Fry, Managing Editor of Staff Development, at firstname.lastname@example.org. And then fill out the online application for the position at http://compasshrm.com/careers.html.
