Contract position in Richmond, VA

Ideal candidates are expert practitioners of Scrum and Lean who are passionate about building successful, collaborative teams through facilitation, coaching and mentoring.

Candidates must be excellent listeners, possess outstanding facilitation and conflict-resolutions skills, and the ability to work in collaborative environments. The candidate will be selected based on their ability to function as a Consultant and Coach, although those in this role may be involved in typical project delivery roles. You will:
Provide process direction to project managers and others, acting as a scrum coach
Consult on and utilize the latest Agile methodologies
Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing
Facilitate sprint planning and retrospective
Assist the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed
Ensure cross-team coordination
Coach and mentor scrum masters
Possesses most skills of the traditional project manager
Provides clear concise communication with project team members
Strong vertical and horizontal communication skills

Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience
Must be a Certified Scrum Master with 5+ years of Agile experience including 2+ years of Scrum Master experience and 2+ years of Agile Coaching experience
Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle and of several software development methodologies
Experience with processes and tools supporting Agile methodologies
Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels (Executive Sponsors to team members)
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
Facilitation skills in leading planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives.
Ability to understand technical issues
Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to coach and mentor the team to reach their highest potential
Collaborative approach to decision-making on teams
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
Proven ability to lead a diverse group toward resolution when faced with ambiguous situations
Financial services industry experience a big plus
Location in Richmond, VA or willingness to travel there

Additional Skills Desired:
Experienced software developer or software tester, especially in an Agile environment
Experience with Extreme Programming (XP), Lean Software Development and other Agile methodologies is a plus
Outstanding presentation and public speaking skills.
Experience conducting stand-up training
Experience developing training materials
Experience leading organizational change management
Experience developing and growing business with new and existing accounts in a deliberate and strategic manner.
Experience designing and deploying methodologies in many types of organizations

Personal Characteristics:
A predisposition to patience and tolerance.
Must be comfortable and articulate in challenging change management scenarios, knowing when to insert self and when to fade back.
Must be extraordinarily articulate, persuasive, and comfortable interacting with all levels of customers, from line developer to C/VP level.
Effective and collaborative team member.
