Provider Services Technicians perform technical work to assist licensed pharmacists in a mail order pharmacy facility. Technicians collect pertinent patient and pharmaceutical information from doctors to complete orders. This information is entered into a computer system and includes items such as: prescription name and strength, prescription directions, refills and the quantity to be dispensed. The technicians will also be responsible for calculating expiration dates, days supply, refills and quantities for accurate dispensing. These prescription requests can be received by mail, telephone or fax. This position also includes communicating with physicians, patients and internal staff to resolve processing issues.
A Provider Services Technician must have good oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to analyze, problem solve, multi-task and have good decision making skills. They must be able to organize and carry our work assignments in an environment where interruptions could occur. They also need to display a high level of initiative and be able to maintain confidentiality. Strong computer and typing skills required in addition to professional phone skills. A Provider Services Technician must be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers and always act with the customer in mind (Customer Focus). In addition, they need to be a disciplined problem solver and use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions (Problem Solving).
