Primary job responsibility involves the fabrication of composite structures including engineering material characterization test samples, engineering prototypes and limited initial production runs of deliverable product. As part the fabrication process the Engineering Technician is intimately involved in process development and tool design and/or modification, as required, to produce high quality composite parts suitable for transition to a production environment.
The Engineering Technician is preferred to be proficient in the operation of CNC equipment, simple oven and press controllers, plus a variety of supporting equipment including engine lathe, drill press, CNC mill, and a variety of power and hand tools. Additional responsibilities include fabrication and testing of engineering samples and parts, developing repair procedures for composite parts, and performing a variety of laboratory processes associated with composite materials.
Associate's degree or equivalent in applicable technician/technical discipline.
Must work well in a team environment which typically includes other technicians, productions workers and a variety of engineering disciplines associated with product development. Must be self motivated and have excellent communications skills. Critical thinking, ability to work independently, and flexibility are requirements.
