Maintains custody, care and control of residents and patients. Oversees and monitors activities of residents while enforcing and adhering to the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the company and contracting agency. Positions available for first and second shift.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of duties that may include the following assignments:
o Monitors and supervises residents in all areas of the facility.
o Coordinates and monitors resident movements, conducts counts, and provides emergency response as needed.
o May be assigned to control rooms, front and vehicle sally port entrance, medical unit, special management housing, perimeter security, transport and escort/utility, work details, kitchen, intake, visitation, walk officer, etc., as required.
o Provides security in program activities and supervises labor crews in various areas around facility.
Conducts routine checks of security equipment to include the inside/outside of the buildings to insure the integrity of the security systems, locks, windows, doors, etc. Performs searches of residents room and other areas to insure that the living environment is kept safe and secure from contraband, weapons, etc.
Operates security and surveillance equipment essential to the overall security of the facility.
Initiates disciplinary reports on residents.
Prepares reports and maintains daily logs as required.
Completes training courses as required by facility training standards
Performs other as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalent certification required. College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Some training in cultural diversity/sensitivity preferred.
Be at least 19 years of age.
Be a citizen of the United States
Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or not contender to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of a sentence or withholding of adjudication.
Work experience in a correctional/residential setting preferred.
Valid state drivers license.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to interact with all levels of staff. Ability to be flexible with work schedule. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
