The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health Professions is seeking to fill one 10 month

faculty position in the Physical Education-Teacher Education Program beginning Fall 2011. The successful candidate will be expected to make substantial contributions to Towson University’s newly-implemented graduate program, MS in Kinesiology, with a focus in Physical Education-Teacher Education.

Faculty Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Conduct scholarly activities and seek external funding.
  • Advise undergraduate students in the department.
  • Contribute to the service mission of Department, College, and University.
  • Contribute to professional activities in the discipline.
Qualifications:
  • Earned doctoral degree by August 1, 2011 with an emphasis in Physical Education/Teacher Education or related area required.
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching physical education at the K-12 level
  • Evidence of scholarship outcomes with potential for external funding required
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching; teaching experience in higher education strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty and schools and/or other agencies.

The Department of Kinesiology has approximately 1200 undergraduate majors in Physical Education- Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Sport Management and 30+ full-time faculty.
