Job Summary : The Corp Coding Training Specialist develops educational materials for presentation to include coding, compliance, documentation improvement and payer regulations. Presents identified educational training to coders, CDI specialists, medical staff, etc. as needed. Reviews results of coding audits, quality reports, and government entities reports; identifies and develops educational materials, presenting to identified staff.

Description Minimum Required Preferred / Desired


5+ years IP and OP coding experience. 5+ years IP and OP coding experience. 3 years experience in coding/compliance training and education.


Bachelors with RHIA or Associates with RHIT. Bachelors with RHIA or Associates with RHIT.


Extensive knowledge of coding to include proficiency in coding of inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery and ER visits using knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding; assignment of DRGs, APCs and Official Coding Guidelines. Advanced clinical knowledge of medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology. Familiarity with electronic health record system, 3M encoder, report preparation using Excel.

Demonstrates time management and organization skills. Displays a very high level of independent judgement and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates effective technical and business written, verbal and presentation skills to a wide variety of audiences. Proven leadership in coaching and mentoring staff.


RHIA or RHIT, and CCS (if not current CCS, position contingent on CCS within 3 months of hire). Has attended the AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS training and acquired R.H.I.A. or R.H.I.T.
