Under the guidance of the Senior Manager - Global Procurement North America Ingredients, this position is responsible for the procurement of ingredient based materials (lead for Cheese and Dairy Powders) as assigned for all Campbell locations in North America with an annual spend valued at over $60MM. The Senior Buyer will ensure quality of materials, competitive pricing, adherence to company policies, procurement processes and endeavors related to the operation of a proactive and strategic Global Procurement Business Unit.
Primary Responsibilities * Assist in the development of category management strategies for cost reduction or value enhancement that result in tangible benefits to the bottom line.* Drive robust category strategies across plant networks, supply base, and align with business goals and objectives. * Evaluate strategies based on changing market conditions and provide inputs during strategic sourcing activities, including internal and external analysis and negotiations.* Assess realized benefits from sourcing and develop improvement strategies and initiatives post-sourcing.* Learn leading edge purchasing techniques and champion the use of formal category management techniques and processes.* Continuously improve upon personal skills - adopting continuous learning and skill development and seeking feedback.* Assist in the preparation of monthly commodity projections and market conditions to various business units.* Support and work closely with Sr. Manager and Commodity Risk Management (CRM) unit to establish and implement risk management strategies as applicable.
Job Complexity * Responsible for an ingredient spend of $60MM that supports 5 operating units and 19 plants.* Ensure items are purchased in accordance with established policies and procedures.* Develop and utilize category/commodity knowledge to support business objectives.* Evaluate and purchase materials for our facilities at a competitive cost. * Must become knowledgeable of commodity characteristics and marketplace cost drivers. * Close interaction with Corporate, Business Units and Plant personnel.* Execute and provide input to strategy. Manage and evaluate acquisition process (Sourcing, Developing and Negotiating) ensuring competitiveness and limiting the risk to Campbell Soup Company.* Facilitate cross functional groups to develop Productivity programs that deliver hard savings through negotiations (Enablers) and Total Procurement Value (TPV) targets. (Category Management)* Assist in the development of Supplier Relationship Management programs that focus on Quality, Productivity and Innovation.* Become a Subject Matter Expert of category specific information on spend, supplier performance, user adoption and compliance, standards and specifications and industry benchmarks.* Promote value engineering analysis to support ongoing performance improvement and cost reduction.* Actively promote the Campbell Supplier Diversity Strategy.
Minimum Requirements * Bachelors Degree required.* Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a purchasing/procurement role. Experience in commodity and/or ingredients preferred.* Ability to contribute to multiple projects/execute upon multiple tasks.* Ability to thrive in ambiguous environment.* Ability to develop and access difficult fact base data.* Must have strong analytical skill set with the ability to prioritize key implications.* Must possess the ability to influence at both peer and leadership levels.* Knowledge of supply chain and plant operations.* Utilize basic competitor/industry analysis to influence daily tactics.* Knowledge of the main product and market characteristics of the category.* Identifies and quantifies key risks by evaluating supplier, technology, and market dynamics.* Effectively utilizes negotiation tactics to deliver desired results
