Description and Desired Qualifications
CH2M HILL Instrumentation & Controls Technician IV - Lincoln, Alabama
The challenge? Help our Facilities Services team deliver safe, reliable, high-quality facilities engineering, operations, and maintenance programs. The Instrumentation Technician IV performs tasks associated with programming, operation, and minor troubleshooting of FMS computer and communication equipment; operations and maintenance of VAV and fan-coil boxes; identify and operate controls such as EP and PE switches and transducers, control relays, power supplies, temperature transmitters, RTDs, photo eyes, VSRs, and proximity switches; backup computer databases such as Metasys and security systems; the ability to complete fire impairments and perform panel shutdowns to Simplex systems; maintain inventory of parts and supplies for areas of responsibility; train personnel on preventative maintenance in areas of responsibility; understands preventative maintenance software and Metasys databases; willingness to perform other duties. Training of new employees and escorting of outside contractors may also be required. The position will report to the O&M Program Manager.

Specific I&C Technician Title, Grade and Qualifications:
Advanced-level position with over 10 years of related experience and technical training in specialized areas of industrial or commercial instrumentation and control work.

Will work independently performing complex duties of a more specialized nature,and frequently requiring independent analysis and decision-making.

May be responsible for coordinating the schedule and workload of other I&C technicians.

May make work assignments and assist in other Technicians' development.

Performs troubleshooting and repairs.

Expected to implement standard trade practices consistent with controls and building management system industry requirements including fire control systems. Often responsible for operations, inspections and repair of equipment and systems, and implementation of corrective actions.

Expected to perform all duties in accordance with company and site safety standards.

Typical Essential Functions:
Programming of client's FMS system.

Adhere to all site standards for safety, quality, housekeeping and security.

Work as a journeyman craftsman, performing complex trouble-shooting and repairs on all types of control equipment and systems.

Operate a wide variety of testing equipment and tools.

Read and understand blueprints and/or schematic diagrams.

Work on complex mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.

Maintain equipment and systems maintenance logs.

Implement standard trade practices and procedures coexistent with proper safety precautions, to produce quality workmanship, commensurate with that of a journeyman.
Basic Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; over 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Varied electrical and mechanical experience

Broad understanding of Fires Systems and Controls, Energy Management Systems, and Security Systems; knowledge of single and three phase electricity

Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and equipment drawings

Ability to effectively present information either orally or in writing to other employees, supervisors, engineering personnel, and client representatives
