The Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology has an immediate opening for a Specimen Preparation Technician. The Specimen Preparation Technician is responsible for all duties related to the receiving, handling, accessioning, registration, and any related follow-up involving specimens.
Key accountabilities include:
Open and inspect all specimens to assure accurate specimen count. Verify requisition for completeness of patient and client information.
Correctly identify and match requisition with specimen either manually or with a computer generated label/bar code.
Accurately enters all patient specimen information into the system. Collect necessary data, when needed.
Produce and correctly affix labels to specimen containers and requisitions. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors and the Company. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements Include:
The desired candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years of data entry experience. Ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM. Must have good customer service skills and be a team player. Must be computer literate. Ability to work Monday to Friday from 1pm - 9:30pm and have the flexibility to work overtime if needed.
Preferred Requirements Include:
1-2 years of laboratory experience in specimen receiving. Experience with Winsurge.
