Summary of Duties

Perform all duties included in waiting tables in a fine dining establishment and banquet facility. May be responsible for preparing any and all foods necessary for the Canyon Park Cafe grill, deli or salad bar productions and be able to participate in the execution of catering events as needed. Must be able to properly lift 50-75 pounds. May be responsible for running the cash drawer, and the counting and reconciling of the drawer at the end of the day.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current UVU student. Must be a Culinary Arts Institute student. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Utah County Food Handler's permit required within 14 days of start date. Must possess the ability to work with and take instruction from the cafe manager, chef/instructors, office managers, Institute director. Must be able to set up a station, cook food products to order, prepare sandwiches and salads as needed and maintain all safety and sanitition procedures as required. Must be able to count back change and run the cash drawer properly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper table service procedures in a banquet facility or fine dining establishment; able to lift 50 pounds; ability to follow multiple directions precisely; ability to work quickly and as a team member. -Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Excellent knife and cooking skills; ability to operate independently with minimal direct supervision; complete knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques and standards; excellent attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks at once; ability to use various pieces of kitchen equipment; ability to identify and differentiate food items; ability to visually inspect, taste, and smell products to ensure freshness/quality and proper degree of doneness.
Selective placement factors

Part-time duty with flexible shifts between the hours of 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM

Special working conditions or schedule:
On-call, hourly basis. Ability to withstand extreme temperatures within the kitchen working environment, ranging from 0 to 100 degrees; ability to work flexible schedule in order to accomodate business levels and events. Must be able to properly lift 50-75 pounds.
