Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for a Turbine Specialist III to work out of either Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA. We are a publicly traded energy holding company with over 4,000 employees. In this challenging role you will be responsible for planning, directing, and implementing large recurring steam turbine and generator outage maintenance and engineering projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, in order to maintain and improve competitive position and profitability. Recurring Projects is responsible for the following: planning, scheduling, conducting major overhauls; planning and conducting large repetitive maintenance tasks; providing outage resource management; providing craft labor management and supervision; managing alliances; managing certain CT's, hydro's, diesels. We are seeking an experienced professional with strong project management skills, extensive knowledge of steam turbine, combustion turbines and generators.

Job Accountabilities
Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents.

Leads and drives the development, planning, scheduling, coordination, and implementation of activities for large engineering and maintenance projects in support of plant objectives.

Interfaces with other GENCO engineering groups and plant management to ensure that recurring project and maintenance activities align with GENCO/plant/unit financial and operating goals.

Assists with the identification and development of innovative methods for improving project management processes and techniques.

Drives for continuous improvement in all processes.

Assists with the management of or participates on project teams to deliver engineering services on time and on budget to the satisfaction of the GENCO customer.

Assists with the development and implementation of vendor alliances and other contractors. Monitors performance and conformance to all contractual or specification requirements.

Provides maintenance and engineering support to assigned unmanned generating equipment.

Assists with the development of strategies and plans for implementing large recurring engineering and maintenance projects in support of reliable and efficient plant operation.

Assists with the establishment and application of corporate and GENCO values in the compliance to all environmental, safety and other laws and regulations.

Assists in GENCO budgeting process; analyzing facility level projects and activities.

Job Qualifications
Physical & Environmental Requirements: Physical requirements include twisting, turning, walking, sitting, standing, hearing, seeing, speaking, reading, balancing and using basic office equipment, eye equipment, head covering and hearing protection.

Technical/Job Skill Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications, and have demonstrated the following technical or job skills:

Minimum of 5 years of experience directly-related to Steam Turbine, Combustion Turbine, and Generator Maintenance.

General knowledge of the theory and application of business planning processes, including identifying industry trends and directions, developing and implementing engineering programs and strategies to satisfy customer┬┐s present and future needs.

Must possess good interpersonal skills including team facilitation, negotiation and conflict management, written and verbal communication, influence and persuasion techniques, and group presentation.

Demonstrated understanding of engineering and operations related financial and business skills including budgeting, accounting, utility economics, NPV, EBIT.

Proven project management and scheduling skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of electric and steam generation industry, power plant operations, mechanical and electrical equipment, and maintenance methods.

Skilled in the use of IT tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling and planning software, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

Demonstrated understanding of the theory and application of data-driven management practices including Statistical Process Control, Continuous Quality and Process Improvement, and data collection and analysis.

Proven ability to administer company and union work rules, contracts and procedures.

Proven experience working with vendors and contractors to deliver goods and services in a timely and professional manner.

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Possession of valid driver's license.
