- Job Description
An engineering coop assists development engineers in all phases of product design and development. He/she also completes various associated training activities under assigned engineering or management staff with minimal supervision and:
- Must have an entry level ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, engineering reports, and legal documents as well as an ability to respond positively to common engineering assignments and effectively communicate with other team members in English.
- Must have studied or be in the process of studying applied advanced mathematical concepts beginning with advanced algebra and including geometry, trigonometry, statistics and experimental design.
- Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and clearly communicate those conclusions to others. Must also have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, drawing or diagram forms and to understand abstract and concrete concepts and variables as well as to effectively communicate that to the work environment.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be exposed to surgical procedures through Cadaver labs and/or actual operating room observations in a hospital or clinic setting. These environments may include latex gloving and fabric protection clothing, strong disinfectant/sterilization chemicals including formaldehyde, power tools with sharp edges and moving parts and autoclave equipment with high temperatures and pressures.
Must know how to or be willing to learn how to read calipers, micrometers and other measurement devices as well as gage equipment.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear.
