The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University
invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the
area of Fluid Mechanics and Propulsion. Both traditional and
emerging research areas involving analytical, computational as well
as experimental expertise are of interest. The search is focused on
the broad topics of energy, power generation and bio-fluids.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or
a related field and have a distinguished academic record,
exceptional potential for world-class research, and a commitment to
both undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates at the
Assistant/Associate Professor level are targeted, but exceptional
candidates at higher rank will receive serious consideration.

Established in 1882, the School of Mechanical Engineering is the
oldest of Purdue's engineering schools and has granted over 26,000
degrees. Through its past two centuries, the School has become
synonymous with innovation and outstanding accomplishment in
engineering research, education, and global engagement. Its
students and faculty form a vibrant community of scholars who are
recognized worldwide for their technical expertise and the impact
of their work. In addition to supporting faculty expansion, the
School's fund raising has enabled: growth in endowed
professorships, with 18 now committed; the newly opened
LEED-certified $34.5M Roger B. Gatewood Wing of Mechanical
Engineering, with substantial space dedicated to design research
and education; $30M expansion of the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories;
numerous endowed scholarships and fellowships; and various
innovative programs including global engineering and
nanotechnology. Its annual research expenditures and
endowment/trust funds have grown rapidly to about $22M per year and
over $80M, respectively.
