I’m looking for a head of marketing/promoting for a newly launched startup website.
I should note now that this position is for equity only… It’s for someone who wants to be a partner in a startup. I’m not looking to pay a salary for a marketer, I’m looking to give a percentage of the company (15%+) to somebody who would be in charge of marketing the website and helping it grow. It’s a risk and a venture, but if you help the website turn into something big, it can surely be very profitable.

Again, I’m looking to give a percentage of the company, not give a salary per se, though you will take in any percentage of your ownership in our profits. I need somebody with vast experience in marketing, who can bring about great ideas on how we can publicize the site, and who will essentially single-handedly or with some of my help do what’s necessary to make the website big. I’m probably looking to give about 15% in equity, but it’s negotiable (and it would be more if you take the risks and incur the costs of marketing, whatever you determine that they should be). We’d also have to negotiate some sort of guidelines, so that you don’t just take 15% for doing nothing, something along the lines of you get your percentage if x amount of people visit the website regularly (we’ll negotiate that).
After you help it become big and popular, we’ll go ahead with pitching the idea to venture capitalist firms and angel investors, and we’ll expand from there with you still and always owning the percentage that we agreed upon.
