Job Description:

NHS Human Services is seeking energetic and
compassionate people who want to grow their career in
behavioral health services as a Behavioral Support
Professional This position will be per required needs
(PRN), and will work on an as needed basis weekly. The
schedule will vary from week to week, and evening and
weekend hours may be required at times. The pay range
for this position will be 18.00 - 20.00 per hour. The
Behavior Support Professional performs 1 on 1 behavioral
observation and assessments, develops strategies based
on assessments, writes personalized Behavior Support
Plans, and trains and mentors the support team as needed
under the clinical supervision of a person with a
Master’s Degree in Human Services or a related field.
Operational supervision will be provided by the IDD
Director. This Behavior Support Professional is
responsible for efficient and appropriate development,
facilitation, documentation and update of Behavior
Support Plans, according to the person’s Individual
Support Plan.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Collection and evaluation of behavioral data
  • Observation of the participant in various settings for
the purpose of developing a behavior support plan
  • Collaboration with the participant, their family and
team towards development of a behavior support plan that
includes positive practices and may not include
restraint procedures as support strategies
  • Conducting comprehensive functional assessments of
presenting issues (i.e. aggression, self injurious
behavior, law offending behavior- sexual and otherwise)
  • Development and maintenance of behavior support plans,
which utilize positive strategies to support the
participant, based on functional behavioral assessments
  • Conducting training related to the implementation of
behavior support plans for the participant, family
members and staff
  • Implementation of activities and strategies identified
in the participant’s behavior support plan
  • Monitoring the implementation of the behavior support
plan, and revising as needed
  • Collaboration with the participant, their family and
team in order to develop positive interventions to
address specific presenting issues
  • Completion of required paperwork related to data
collection, progress reporting and development of annual
plan reporting
  • Cooperation with and adherence to the supervision
schedule and standards set forth by the Master’s level
supervisor.
  • Compliance to and facilitation of all recommendations
made during supervision
  • Provision of Behavior Support in the office, home of
the individual, authorized service locations, or local
community environments as necessary.
  • Certified trainer in NHS Safety Interventions.
Job Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Human Services, Education,
Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education is
required OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social
Work, or Special Education or related field AND a
minimum of five years experience with developing and
implementing Behavior Support Plans under the
supervision of an individual with a Masters Degree
in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social
Work, or Special Education OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree with less than five years of
experience who is under the supervision of an
individual with a Master’s degree in Human Services,
Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Special
Education.
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism
required in some cases
  • Demonstrated ability to support individuals with
behavioral challenges required
