Job Title: Network Technician

The candidate for this position will be responsible for installing and maintaining KVC client systems and LAN/WAN connectivity at KVC branch offices. This includes troubleshooting desktop, server, network, voice and video issues. The ideal person must be able to work independently of direct supervision, but also be able to work as part of a team. This position will provide a Tier 2 escalation point for Help Desk Analysts on more difficult issues, and assist Tier 3 Network Engineers with projects as required.
This position will require periodic daily travel to branch offices in eastern Kansas, as well as occasional travel to southeast Nebraska. Remote support will be provided to KVC offices in West Virginia and Kentucky as required.
The candidate for this position must be both technically proficient and customer service oriented. Must be able to relate to people and provide quality service, making them comfortable with the technology. Experience mentoring others and providing training to lower level IT staff is required. Applicants for this position must be self-starters who have a proven track record of taking the initiative.
This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in an IT support role.
A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Candidates should possess advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows XP/Windows 7), TCP/IP and Network Troubleshooting, PC Hardware Support, Client Phone Support, and Client Desk-Side Support.
Additionally applicants should have intermediate knowledge and experience with network and telecommunication circuit installation and troubleshooting, Microsoft Active Directory, and Cisco routers and switches. Certifications from Microsoft and Cisco are a plus.
