Job Duties: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in area of expertise, specifically music education/pedagogy courses, applied music (low strings or voice preferred), and music appreciation. Additional duties include administration of the music education degree program, supervision of music education fieldwork, recruitment and retention of music and music education students, active interaction with public and independent school administrators and teachers, advising students, service to the university and community, active participation in departmental activities and professional development.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Music Education is preferred; Master of Music Education is required. Successful, full-time K-12 music teaching is required. Five years of successful, full-time K-12 music teaching experience in the United States is preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate professional level artistry as a musician in a specified applied area and excellence in teaching, including the ability to teach with technology. A terminal degree in music education or its equivalent in training and experience is required for tenure-track eligibility.
