The Systems Validation, Test and Analysis Directorate (SVTAD ) is the central focus for integration, test and validation activities within IDS. Zumwalt Ships Control System, Senior Tech Support Engineer/Principal Tech Support Engineer
This position can be an A04 or A05 salary grade based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
As a member of the Zumwalt Ship’s Control Systems Team you will apply your experience and technical expertise to supporting the integration, test/evaluation, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance (repair/recovery), and in-service support of the following subsystems:
Engineering Control System (ECS)
Integrated Bridge System (IBS)
Voyage Management System (VMS)
Navigational Sensor System Interface (NAVSSI)
SPS 73 Radar
AN/WSN-7 Ring Laser Gyrocompass
Ships Domain Controller (SDC)
Electro-optical Surveillance System (ESV)
In this position the candidate is expected to:
Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and taking corrective action based on your analysis,
Work with the team to advise and assist in developing preventative maintenance programs and keeping records on equipment.
Participate in the installation phase (e.g., startup and checkout of control systems and equipment)
Assist in the integration and testing and support of other areas under the purview of the team. e.g., TSCEi, material support, DOORS, IVD and WSTR development
Analyze control equipment failures to determine cause and perform corrective actions
Operate, test and troubleshoot complex military systems
Perform normal climbing and lifting associated with shipboard electronic work
BS degree in electronics or related major OR 8+ years applicable experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
Six (6+) years of test experience in a lab or field environment, with a concentration in military or industrial control systems (ex: PLCs, SCADA, DCS)
Experience in one or more of the above listed systems
Knowledge of both Analog and Digital signal processing
Extensive experience with test procedure development and test conduct
Shipboard experience on a US Navy or commercial ship, or experience in the pre-commissioning of a naval vessel
Ability to perform work on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea. Prior experience working in this environment would be an advantage.
Communication Skills (i.e. experience presenting to internal & external customers utilizing PowerPoint or other presentation tools)
Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
