Sr. Android Software Engineer
Job Description: Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.
The Open Source Technology Center within the Software and Services Group is looking for software developers and technical leads to develop and enable the Android Operating System on new Intel architectures that span Intel's device platforms. Depending on skill level, in this position you will be responsible for developing and enhancing the Android platform on Intel Architecture, optimizing the core OS stack, and developing user interface and application technologies. B.S or M.S in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent; BS + 6 yrs of experience, or MS + 4 years experience in a combination of the following:
Android Framework internals
Android/Linux user-space system level development
Android porting experience
Java programming experience
Highly desirable experience/skills
Working with open source software community, including success with getting code accepted in upstream open source projects
Knowledge of Open Source Licenses
Knowledge/Experience of Android Build System
Knowledge/Experience w/ Git/Gerrit
Android streaming media (both audio and video)
OpenGL, EGL, GLES2
Android app development
Knowledge and developer experience with at least 3 of the following:
Android startup/init scripts
Embedded Linux development, debug and test
Linux kernel device drivers
gcc / glibc / gas / nasm / GNU binutils / Makefiles
