Business Leader, Global Core Products & Solutions Counsel

MasterCard Worldwide is searching for a dedicated attorney with extensive contract experience to join its Law Department at its headquarters in Purchase, NY in order to provide legal support to MasterCard's core products organization, which contracts with MasterCard's customer banks, processors, program managers, merchants, vendors, and other partners. This challenging position reports to the managing counsel and requires an experienced candidate with sound business and legal judgment who is familiar with the fast pace and diverse workload of an in-house counsel position. The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts, counseling clients with respect to product constructs, and providing direction for MasterCard’s regulatory compliance with respect to such products. Specifically, responsibilities include (i) structuring, drafting, and negotiating product development and distribution agreements, services agreements, commercial alliances, strategic business transactions and technology licensing agreements; (ii) reviewing sales and marketing materials, press releases, and other internal and external communications, and (iii) advising senior management teams on the identification and analysis of legal and commercial risks related to various issues . The qualified candidate must be a self-starter who is flexible and able to multi-task while working in a global team-environment. Above all, the successful candidate must be highly intelligent, a team player, have excellent business and legal judgment, and be 'solutions' oriented. Experience/Education: Qualified candidates must have a law degree, be licensed to practice in one or more states, including New York , strong written and oral communications skills, and solid commercial transactions experience. Six or more years of legal experience preferred; in-house experience and familiarity with the payments industry, including associated laws and regulations a plus.
