As an Epidemiologist in the Division of Epidemiology, Office of Surveillance and Biometrics, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, you will provide epidemiologic review and evaluation of a variety of health-related pre-market and postmarket issues related to medical devices and radiation emitting products.

DUTIES:
Makes recommendations on issues pertaining to post-market research and post-market surveillance of medical devices.

Proposes, designs, implements and analyzes the results of applied epidemiologic research issues, with the purpose of assessing the safety or effectiveness of medical devices or the safety of radiation emitting products.

Participates in Division efforts involving training, and teaching, including academic courses provided to those outside the Division, oral presentations on scientific issues to colleagues, and mentoring of Division interns.

Provides clinical and technical information related to epidemiological studies to various audiences.

Writes scientific correspondence related to epidemiological research studies.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicant must demonstrate that they meet the basic AND the specialized experience qualification requirements as noted below:

BASIC QUALIFICATION: Successfully completed a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree with a major study in an academic field related to health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position, such as biochemistry, pharmacology, chemistry, epidemiology, or other related biological and medical sciences.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION : You must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that included: designing, recommending, and interpreting epidemiologic studies related to post-market research or post-market surveillance of medical devices or radiation emitting electronic products; and providing technical advice on the resolution of epidemiologic issues.

You must submit an official transcript, unofficial transcript, or a list including courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Degree requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this job announcement and your transcript(s) submitted must reflect this.
