The individual in this position will be responsible for detailed design activities to support mechanical document development including flow diagrams, field surveys for pipe routing/equipment location, preparing piping/equipment layout drawings to facilitate field installation, utilization of field sketches to create isometric/orthographic drawings per applicable codes and standards, and preparing bill of materials. Responsibilities include providing support for mechanical implementation and technical field support for mechanical design changes implemented by the Oconee Major Projects (OMP) Group at Oconee Nuclear Station.

Qualifications

:

Basic Qualifications:
4+ years experience in mechanical design OR 2 year technical degree in a mechanical area of study, or equivalent technical experience.

Proven ability to integrate with engineering organizations to complete projects that are in an accelerated completion condition.

Experience with detailed design and implementation planning processes associated with major plant modifications.

Capable of solving complex technical issues with little or no supervision.

Proven ability to work with a wide range of plant support groups (Operations, Planning, Scheduling, Technical, Craft, and other engineering groups).

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and work scheduling programs.

Desired Qualifications:
Past work experience in the modifications area at a Duke Energy nuclear facility

Engineering Change Process experience at or for nuclear power facilities utilizing Nuclear Asset Suite (NAS)

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Demonstrated time management and work prioritization skills in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Experience with mechanical document development (flow diagrams, isometric drawings, and piping layout drawings from conceptual information provided by engineers)

Experience with Computer Aided Design (MicroStation Version 8 or V8i)

Experience working in a design capacity; basic power plant knowledge

Ability to read layout and routing drawings that are mechanical in nature.
