Position summary

This position is responsible for the administration of Adobe’s IT Unix and Linux compute services. This person will be working closely with Engineering Build teams, Project management team, DBA’s and storage administrators. The position is at a mid to senior level and requires string knowledge of all applicable technologies is required, but a focus needs to be in Redhat Linux, Virtualization technologies, blade technologies (HP). This position will require great cross collaboration teamwork skills to coordinate and support other system administrators, architects and engineers. To be successful in Adobe's dynamic environment, qualified candidates must be self-motivated and able to define, plan and implement long term goals and tasks in support of Adobe’s Engineering and Information Services departmental strategies and charter. Excellent problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills and attention to detail are required for to work in this challenging and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for infrastructure standards which will include OS standards, system configuration, high availability, and server virtualization offerings.

Handle day-to-day problems and service requests related to OS, Server and Virtualization infrastructure

Operations as a 3rd Level Escalation, perform Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement, and act as an escalation point for Level 1 & 2 support teams

Perform Capacity and configuration management of Unix and Linux servers and VM’s

Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the servers and IT infrastructure

Participate in 7x24 on-call rotation and maintenance windows

Complete appropriate validation paperwork as required with minimal deviations or discrepancies

Requirements

BS degree or equivalent in engineering, computer technology, or related disciplines.

7-10 years of experience in IT, including 2+ years in working as a Linux systems admin is required.

5 to 8 years of experience in a large Unix/Linux environment with Redhat Linux, AIX, Veritas Storage Foundation and good knowledge of storage technologies

Competency in storage provisioning and installation including strong understanding of system performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in HA and clustering solutions and proven track record of design and implementation of HA solutions for large database and ERP (SAP) applications.

Experience managing Oracle databases on IBM AIX platform is desired. Experience in managing application and web servers in a highly virtualization environment is essential for this position.

In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and server deployments on Linux, AIX and Solaris platforms, and understanding of SAN storage.

Knowledge of vmware ESX (Vsphere 4.x is preferred) and hands on experience with working on provision of VM’s, Vmotion and Vswitch technologies is a plus.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to adapt and change priorities as the business needs change

Strong understanding and hands on experience in following hardware platform, technologies:

Blade Technologies

Hardware Platforms (e.g., HP C7000 enclosures, Sun HW)

Strong knowledge and understanding of OS, HA, Virtualization and DR technologies:

Operating Systems (e.g. Redhat Linux 5.x, knowledge of using VMware ESX, Solaris)

Knowledge of Capacity and configuration management tools (e.g. BMC blade logic, Capacity manager)

Knowledge of GPFS file system on SAP environment would be a plus

Desired skills:
A good understanding of IaaS and cloud computing and market trends

Previous experience with Disaster Recovery methodologies will be a plus.

Knowledge of ITIL V3 process framework
