This is a highly specialized and responsible position of advanced HVAC mechanical maintenance, repair and control work. This position consists of the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment and systems associated with boilers, air conditioning, heating, ventilating, plumbing, electrical, pneumatics and their control technology. This position greatly emphasizes individual initiatives and independent judgement. This position functions under general supervision of the Building Superintendent and provides leadership to other campus staff who assists in the more routine HVAC maintenance activities. Position works Monday through Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM and will include periodic weekend work as required.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and other mechanical systems used in office and institutional buildings and complexes.
Must have completed or be willing to complete Refrigeration, Reclamation and Recovery training.
Ability to read complex electrical and control sequence diagrams.
Possess windows based computer navigational skills.
Awareness of sound safety practices.
Knowledge of OSHA and DILHR safety regulations.
Ability to react quickly and make sound independent decisions in an emergency.
Possess capacity, flexibility and willingness to learn and apply new methods and procedures required by changes in facilities, equipment, and technology.
Willingness to work under unpleasant conditions such as dirty areas, or in extreme heat or cold.
Ability to perform manual labor, climb, bend or crawl in tight or confined spaces.
Be able to lift up to 90 pounds.
Possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver's license.

Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, reinstatement, or voluntary demotion; starting salary will not be less than $19.106 per hour. The pay schedule/range is 03-15. A six (6)-month probationary period may be required.
