This position is for Weyerhaeuser’s Wood Products Lumber business located in Philadelphia, MS. Weyerhaeuser purchased the Philadelphia Mississippi facility in 1967 and annually produces approximately 220 million board feet of Southern Pine two-inch dimensional lumber (2X4 through 2X12) largely used in roof truss construction and treating.
      Key Functions:

      An Engineering Intern is assigned to our site for 3 to 6 months on a full time temporary basis. During that period, the Intern receives a comprehensive orientation to Weyerhaeuser and its Lumber business, performs assignments in most areas of the mill and receives training as determined by site and business mentors.

      Intern roles and responsibilities may include: Resolving a manufacturing issue by leading a mill trial (writing the trial plan, coordination, data analysis, communicating of results and report writing); Facilitating and/or leading small group problem solving activities to identify root cause of a mill problem; Participation in capital or maintenance project team; Maintaining level of preservation of mill infrastructure; Assisting mill process owners in optimizing process economics and process controls; Working with team development managers to improve team performance; Other duties/projects may be assigned or required as needed.

      Qualifications

      Requirements:

      • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a technical writing
      capability.
      • Must be able to commit to a 3 to 6 month internship.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.

      • Well developed problem solving and analytical skills.
      • High level of initiative and motivation.
      • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
      • Proficient in MS Office.
      • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
      • Eligible to work in the U.S.
