Be a part of the initial growth of this exciting new social e-commerce company founded and designed by UNH Alumni! We are looking for a talented, hard-working individual to intern as a web developer. This position will enhance skills in web development frameworks and concepts, problem-solving, and small team collaboration. The right candidate will receive hands-on experience working in an entrepreneurial work environment where one’s efforts are both valued and integral to the company’s success.

Job Duties Include:
  • Work directly with the VP of Engineering on web development tasks
  • Develop both front-end and back-end aspects of the site based on a specification or mockup
  • Document code and techniques utilized in one's development
  • Provide insight, feedback, and suggestions on provided mockups or site ideas
  • Possible opportunity for web design based on interest and skills

Qualifications:
  • Upperclassman majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or similar field
  • Strong [web] development skills (especially PHP)
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills
  • Ability to understand/write jQuery/Javascript code preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack preferred
  • Knowledge of web application frameworks (especially CakePHP) and the MVC pattern a plus
  • An understanding of development/programming best practices
  • Understanding of version control systems (SVN, Git(hub), CVS) preferred
  • Ability to provide own development machine (laptop preferred) with ability to setup Unix sandbox environment (Ubuntu, Mac OSX, Virtual machine software) preferred
  • A strong dislike of Internet Explorer
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with hard deadlines
  • Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to ask questions and communicate issues
  • Ability and desire to solve problems, research concepts, determine syntax, etc. via Google or similar sources
  • Self-starter; Ability to work remotely and independently
  • Ability to work at least 10-15 hours a week
  • Must be able to go to the Portsmouth, NH office occasionally

Note: This is an unpaid internship but is available for college credit.
