Overview: Assists the Engineering Manager in matters concerning electrical design, installation, testing and maintenance of plant systems. Responsibilities: Provides technical direction for the design, modification, operation and maintenance of reliable plant electrical systems. Plans, directs, coordinates and executes plant engineering projects involving major power plant electrical systems. Determines the materials, manpower and equipment needed to accomplish plant electrical projects. Develops cost estimates and conducts cost benefit analysis for plant electrical projects. Directs the investigation, study and reporting on special problems such as equipment failures, air pollution control equipment and application of new tools and equipment. . Keeps abreast of new developments in the technical and engineering aspects of steam power production, plant and equipment operations and plant maintenance. Serves as an advisor and assists the Maintenance Manager in planning of outages. Directs the work of vendors or contractors to solve plant problems and complete electrical projects. Assists in troubleshooting electrical problems with plant equipment and develops solutions to eliminate these problems. Serves as an interface with vendors that supply engineering, maintenance and construction services. Serves as plant "expert" on designated plant electrical systems and equipment including fire protection, plant lighting, gas turbine-generator, DC electrical system, transformers, circuit breakers and relays. Coordinates electrical system training. Indirectly supervises vendor, contractor and construction personnel and plant maintenance personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years experience in electrical engineering and/or maintenance within a power generating plant. Knowledgeable with the concepts of Root Cause Analysis (Root Cause Analysis). Knowledgeable with plant AC and DC systems and components. Knowledgeable with testing procedures for plant mechanical systems. Very proficient with personal computer and business software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
