The Analytic Applications area of ISO Innovative Analytics serves a critical function by providing technical expertise and insight about our products to customers, development partners, regulators, product sponsors, and other stakeholder groups. It provides the “translation” function between R&D activities and business issues that are important to these stakeholders, enabling their feedback to guide the development of new analytical efforts.

In addition to proven experience with analytical techniques and predictive modeling, the successful candidate must be an accomplished communicator, with demonstrated experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. The position requires communication with customer/regulators and includes some amount of travel (10-30%). The Director (or Manager) will manage analytical staff. This position will be located in Jersey City, NJ or San Francisco, CA.

The Director (or Manager) of the Analytic Applications function will take a leadership role and will work closely with the Executive team to set direction, role, and activities for Analytic Applications function. Broad responsibilities of the function include –

1. Providing Product Expertise & Implementation Guidance to Customers
Developing technical expertise in iiA products for P&C pricing & underwriting
Designing, directing, and presenting “proof of concept” analyses to demonstrate product value to potential customers.
Supervising analytical staff supporting these activities.
Explaining applications of iiA products to potential customers.
Responding to customer questions and interest regarding applications of iiA products
Attending client meetings; answering client questions.
Supporting the regulatory filings of iiA products with analysis, explanations, and on-the-ground support such as DOI visits (if needed)
2. Supporting Marketing/Sales activities
Assisting with the development of marketing and sales strategies.
Utilizing product knowledge and customer insights to develop presentations, white papers, or other material to communicate the uses and value of iiA products to potential customers.
Speaking at industry seminars or other events to increase the visibility of iiA products and the technical expertise of iiA staff.

3. Contributing to the Development of new Analytical Products
Using knowledge of customer’s analytical needs to develop strategies to turn analytical tools into successful products, in partnership with R&D, Product Management, and Product Sponsors
Assisting with collection of market research to enable successful product design.
Designing and performing analyses to support product implementation strategies and project product value
Performing state-specific model adjustments or analyses, as needed

Qualifications:
Must be self-motivated and passionate about creating practical analytical solutions for diverse and challenging problems.
Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary/departmental project teams is required.
8+ years of experience in P&C insurance (preferably in Actuarial, Product Management, or Product Development functions) is required, with 3+ years of experience in analytics/predictive modeling
Experience building and/or managing predictive modeling initiatives is required
Strong communication ability is required, with experience making influential presentations of technical results to non-technical audiences, including senior decision makers.
Demonstrated P&C domain knowledge through qualifications such as FCAS/ACAS or CPCU is desired.
Advanced quantitative degree (Masters or higher) is strongly preferred.
Experience with filing rating plans or working with Departments of Insurance is a plus.
Experience with managing customer relationships and/or consulting is a plus.
Knowledge and experience with diverse statistical and data mining methods is desirable.
Ability to lead initiatives, plan activities and resources, work hands-on, manage/develop staff, and mentor junior members, is required.
