What You'll Do
As a Senior Materials Engineer for John Deere Des Moines Works you will provide leadership in the heat treat and plating departments and also provide support for Crop Harvesting and Crop Care Product Engineering groups on material and process selection for new designs (PDP) and continuous improvement. In addition, you will:
Operate in a team environment to include relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and supply management.
Work with steels, castings, heat treatment, welding, and other manufacturing processes.
Plan, assign, and coordinate work of support personnel.
Be recognized as an expert to the design community, supply management, and operations in material and process selection for diverse global design applications. What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator who thrives on working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or a similar discipline and/or equivalent work experience. We also require:
5 years of experience working with metals, heat treatment, casting processes, metal fabrication, and welding metallurgy.
Experience with hard chrome plating
A strong candidate will also have:
An understanding of crop harvesting and crop care implement design, the customer applications and product loads.
Knowledge of material strength and FEA analysis to reveal adequate product design.
An advanced degree in engineering or business.
