The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan invites applications for a one-term lecturer position for Fall term, 2012. The lecturer will teach University Courses 270, Positioning Yourself for a Successful Internship.

This 1-credit undergraduate course provides hands-on experiential learning, skill-building opportunities, and the academic foundation designed to prepare liberal arts undergraduates for finding, getting, and succeeding in an internship. A particular emphasis of the course is students? development of skills to represent themselves effectively through cover letters, resumes, social media tools (e.g., Linked In) and interviews. The course also provides different academic perspectives (e.g., economic, psycho-social) through which students will examine internships in the changing landscape of careers, work and the economy. The course meets for 2 hours weekly, for seven consecutive weeks during the Fall term. Required Qualifications*
Master's degree in a liberal arts field of study or a terminal degree in a closely related

field is required. The candidate must have experience teaching undergraduates in a

research university and working with undergraduates involved with internships and/or career exploration. Desired Qualifications*
Doctoral degree in a liberal arts or related field of study. Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. Application Deadline
