Associate's Degree

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance, calibration, electrical, mechanical, and {radiation} safety inspections on diagnostic imaging equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform and document all activities necessary to maintain assigned {x-ray} equipment in excellent operating condition as prescribed by the equipment manufacturer to provide the best possible diagnostic care for patients.

Make every attempt to perform all repairs to the [assembly] level whenever possible to minimize equipment parts costs.

Maintain all tools, test equipment, and service documentation in excellent operating condition to facilitate the proper maintenance and operation of equipment.

Utilize technical assistance and support from vendors and/or other appropriate sources when necessary.

Provide occasional on-call support for DISS department on a limited basis.

Perform the duties and responsibilities of this job in a manner that complies with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations and guidelines. {Included is the completion of FDA form 2579 to document the installation of certified components in an x-ray system.}

Establish and maintain good working relationships with manager, peers, and all department personnel in a responsible and professional manner.

Engage in formal training activities to maintain the necessary skills and abilities to maintain imaging equipment in excellent operating condition.

Make every effort to keep current with new imaging technologies and electronics, including computer technology, to enhance service capability on imaging equipment.

Two to four years' experience maintaining {x-ray} imaging equipment from multiple manufacturers is required.

An A.S. Degree or equivalent in electronics with additional training in {radiation} physics is required. ICC certification of CRES and/or B.S. Degree in Radiologic Science is desirable.

A practical understanding of the application of x-ray systems including generators, high tension circuits, image intensifiers, automatic exposure control (AEC), film changers, cine, film processing, film handling systems, fluoroscopic systems, and contrast media injectors.

A working knowledge of the theory and practice of microcomputer (pc) hardware systems and software applications including networking.

Knowledge and understanding of safety and hazards associated with {ionized} radiation producing equipment and other types of medical electronic equipment.

Proven capability to interact on a professional level with managers, peers, and equipment users.

Basic systems manufacturers training on specialized 'high technology' diagnostic imaging equipment.


Ability to perform work that is equivalent to that of the equipment manufacturer and meets the quality of generally accepted safe practices and procedures.

All work performed will be properly documented so that problems, solutions, and other activities are clearly defined and understood.
