SAIC has an opening for an Integrated Test Engineer (ITE) I with practical U.S. Navy ship maintenance availability testing experience in Norfolk, VA.

Job Description:

- Approve and provide oversight for contractor's development and management of Integrated Test Plans (ITP)

- Ensure the ITP is functionally linked to the Integrated Production Schedule per NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60

- Ensure the ITP includes all testing for all maintenance activities

- Provide oversight of the ITP during the execution of the requirements of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-60 and 009-67

- Provide coordination with the PEO IWS Combat Systems Project Engineer

- (CSPE) and Test Coordinator

- Act as Government primary Point of Contact (POC) to collect schedule and testing information between non-LMA/LMA maintenance activities

- Act as Government POC to coordinate Ship's Force testing schedule and major training evolution schedule information

- Act as Government POC to coordinate outside assessment visits including TSRA II assessments

- Evaluate Test Sequence Networks (TSN) between non-LMA/LMA maintenance activities

- Maintain availability Integrated Testing Schedule is updated

- Receive Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for completed test procedures from all maintenance activities and evaluate results for completeness and accuracy; resolve or technically adjudicate issues

- Serve as government representative on Total Ship Testing Task Group (TSTTG) as outlined in NAVSEA Standard Item 009-67

- At availability completion, issue final testing reports

- Liaison with other NAVSEA Project Engineers and test personnel, as well as other government specialists as required

- Approve the LMA input to Sea Trials Agendas, ensuring all test procedures with underway requirements are properly scheduled

- Ensure Test Procedure deficiencies are forwarded to the appropriate Test Development Agency for correction

- Collect lessons learned and process improvement information.

- Participate in Maintenance Control Team meetings

- Interface with local regional maintenance center engineering leadership on budget, scope, and risk issues associate with the repair of shipboard structural spaces and equipment

- Must have excellent communication skills to interface with numerous other Engineering and Trades organizations and work with minimal supervision. Good technical writing and organizational abilities are required in order to meet commitments

- Additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the U.S. Navy customer

Required Education and Skills:

- Engineer or Engineering Technician with prior training as a Lead Test Engineer at a Naval Shipyard

- Bachelor of Science degree (technical degree desired) and 2-3 years’ experience in U.S. Navy ship maintenance environment or HS diploma and 6-7 years’ experience

- Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering as applicable to ship's auxiliary machinery, piping and refrigeration systems, combat systems, weight handling equipment, and crew habitability systems (sanitary, plumbing, galley)

- Knowledge of Electrical Engineering as applicable to ship's Electrical system functions, limitations, design, operations, performance, safety parameters and maintainability

- Knowledge of basic project management principles

- Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles related to Shipyard work and Testing

- Technical knowledge and the ability to apply NAVSEA Ship Overhaul, building and test requirements

- Knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.

- Ability to interact with multiple maintenance activities and effectively communicate technical information with senior engineers, technicians, Project Managers and Maintenance Team personnel

- Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs

- Ability to travel and work aboard US Navy vessels, including overseas locations

- Position requires the ability to maintain a secret DoD security clearance
