Job Title: B I Data Architect
Location: New Castle, DE
Partner with IT and business teams to design and maintain the enterprise data model to support the enterprise data strategy and objectives. Creates and maintains the data warehouse/data mart data models applying appropriate BI standards and design paradigms. Will work to mentor and ensure the use of appropriate architectural and methodology techniques.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the BI Solution Architect to create a data architecture strategy and project specific implementations.
Work with IT and business teams to create a robust, sustainable, scalable enterprise data model that supports current business needs and provides for expansion.
Design, direct and execute changes to existing models and create new data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, data marts dependent on the Enterprise Data Schema and any required data staging.
Establish and document guidelines and standards for the data architecture.
Mentor and provide direction to other team members on data architecture best practices.
Analyze business requirements to produce relevant data architecture deliverables (data models, data dictionary, source analysis, source to target maps).
Work to manifest business concepts into enterprise and subject-oriented data models. Design and create data models from conceptual to logical to physical that reflect the information requirements of the solution and using industry accepted practices.
Use enterprise data warehousing best practices for consolidation and integration of a large volume of data from multiple sources.
Work with other team members to implement performance related changes.
Completes the data modeling efforts for individual BI/DW projects ensuring the consistent use of data element names, data types, business definitions as well as domain / range values.
Communicates the logical and physical data model to the team and convert the database design into physical database schema objects.
Create and maintain documentation of the Data Warehouse data architecture. Ensure communication and collaboration of the Data Warehouse data architecture with other IT Architects.
Develop and execute test plans to check Data Warehouse data architecture technical performance.
Provide support and technical guidance to the Data Warehouse team for implementing complex data architecture fixes and enhancements to the Data Warehouse.
Maintain effective user and IT relationships in order to provide a climate receptive to systems improvement and to enhance understanding of the user’s business concerns.
Provide input to IT managers on performance of IT personnel to assist in performance, evaluations, career development, and recognition.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. Extensive experience with Data Warehouse architectures, and data modeling techniques including normalized/de-normalized, star schemas, snowflakes. Extensive experience in the design and creation of conceptual, logical and physical data models through use of a data modeling tool. Extensive experience with Data Warehouse life cycles and strong understanding of agile development methodology. Significant experience in data oriented roles such as a Data Modeler on data warehousing and data mart projects – through the full life cycle.
Experience creating and supporting complex, high volume data architecture. Data Warehouse data modeling tool evaluation and selection experience.
8+ years of experience in Information Technology with 5+ years in Business Intelligence.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Understanding of conformed dimensions and the challenges involved.
Working knowledge in source system analysis and data quality analysis.
Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
Exceptional understanding of relational and multi dimensional data design and development techniques.
Highly proficient in data warehouse tools and technologies including Microsoft SQL Server or other leading database platforms.
Extensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts, terminology and architecture.
Working knowledge of an agile environment including creating of automated build, testing, integration and data refresh processes.
Knowledge and experience with Information processing principles and practices including testing and source control.
