The Database Administrator is responsible for the creation, support, and administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL & MySql databases on UNIX and ‎Windows platforms. This position will recommend and establish standards, policies, and procedures for database construction and use, and programming and application administration. Responsible for providing design recommendations and expertise regarding the integration and architecture of commercial application packages, databases and relevant applications. Responsible for identifying and recording gaps between business requirements and product functionality and alternative work a rounds based on technical feasibility. Implement, ‎troubleshoot, and maintain various database environments, including tuning, ‎maintaining, and integrating the physical database structures for the most efficient utilization of the environment. Responsible for the specification and development of custom tools and utilities to extend applications; maintaining monitoring and data gathering systems for reporting and performance forensics purposes. Maintain an understanding, and then apply current technology trends within the industry to the university supported systems.‎‎ Required:

Bachelor's degree.

At least two years of information technology experience in a technical role (i.e. systems, network, development, programming, analysis, and other related areas).

Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Self motivated, work independently, and posses a desire to learn.

Demonstrated ability ‎to work with multiple groups on diversified tasks and projects.

Knowledge and understanding of LINUX/UNIX and/or Windows operating ‎system environments.

Knowledge and understanding of database infrastructure and administration.

Ability to interact with a variety of customers in a professional manner.

Ability to perform on call rotation on a scheduled basis.

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and have strong listening skills.

Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

Degree in computer-related field.
Experience in a high availability 24x7x365 production environment.
Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
Extensive experience in performance turning and instance tuning.
Hands on experience with Management, tuning, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL, Oracle or MySQL databases.
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
Project Management experience.
Proven database administration skills.
Thorough knowledge of one of the following Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or MySQL.
Knowledge of Database Backup and recovery.
Working knowledge/experience in all DB systems (Microsoft SQL, Oracle & MySQL).
