Position is responsible for working with other Garfield Park Arts Center (GPAC) staff to plan, promote and execute high-quality arts exhibits, programs and special events. Position provides excellent customer services as it facilitates creative experiences for the public and maintains a safe, clean, organized and secure facility.

**This position is a part time limited benefits position working approximately 25 hours per week.**

Position Responsibilities:

Assists with planning, promoting and execution of special events, exhibits, facility rentals and all GPAC programming including Art for All, artists-in-residence, Creative Kids!, open studio and arts workshops.

Serves as Lobby greeter when needed.

Provides excellent customer service to the public

Keeps GPAC plants (interior and select exterior) healthy.

Conducts janitorial checks of building restrooms, clean if needed.

Maintains cleanliness of GPAC facility interior.

Maintains cleanliness of GPAC Main (Lobby) Entrance exterior.

Maintains gallery humidity within acceptable levels by utilizing dehumidifiers.

Checks for USPS mail, bring all mail to Manager.

Makes volunteers feel welcome, appreciated and comfortable.

Opens and closes exhibit spaces daily including doors, lights, music, etc.

Conducts weekly check of janitorial supplies.

Performs security checks of the building at opening and closing.

Maintains a clean pantry.

Completes janitorial verification forms after each contract cleaning.

Spreads ice melt at Main (Lobby) Entrance when needed.

Takes GPAC recycling to designated areas when needed.

Checks AED battery daily.

Updates and checks Lobby voice mail.

Raises and lowers flag.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required or two (2) years experience working in an arts-related field. Must be self-motivated and organized. Must be friendly, outgoing and enjoy working with children and families. Must be able to work productively under general supervision. Licenses/Certifications required: Ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate.

Independent Judgment:

Established policies and procedures control actions. Limited independent judgment is utilized when there are no available policies and procedures and errors in judgment may cause inconsistencies, inconveniences as well as legal and budgetary problems.
