Contract Location: Longmont, CO

Contract Duration: up to 18 months

Project Description: Maintaining a Development and Test Lab

Daily Responsibilities: Application and infrastructure upgrades, capacity management, projects to improve operational support and stability, and working with other IT groups to provision servers in a data center environment. Job role includes Linux, Windows and VMware server support administration and troubleshooting, security patching and compliance.

Necessary Skills : The qualified candidate should have a strong IT background, and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the following areas:

Emphasis on Linux administration, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting, including Debian and Red Hat based systems

Working knowledge of MS Windows Server Administration

Knowledge of server hardware, systems components, capacity and systems performance management

Linux tools (understanding of tools such as rsync, sshd, VNC, cron, Apache, ftpd, sendmail and postfix)

Networking hardware

Basic understanding of cable, switch and routing technology, and the ability to set up a LAN

Networking protocols - DNS, DHCP, TCP, UDP, SSH, FTP

Scripting (Bash, Perl and Python, Windows Powershell) to help automate tasks, report status of systems and provide monitoring integration

Basic network knowledge including LAN/WAN concepts, DNS, basic understanding of cable, switch and routing technology

Must have good verbal and written communications skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask

Additional skills are desired, but not required:
Source Code Control

Working knowledge of GIT and basic repository administration

Build system automation

Understanding of data backup tools and methodologies

Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and integration between AD and Linux credentials

Application development background

Experience with Virtualized environments
